4 italian events about art and design in November
Artissima – From 3rd to 5th November, Tourin
Artissima is Italy’s most important contemporary art fair. Since its establishment in 1994, it has combined the presence of an international market with a focus on experimentation and research.
Nearly two hundred galleries from around the world participate every year. In addition to the fair, Artissima is also composed of three art sections, headed by a board of international curators and museum directors, devoted to emerging artists, drawings and rediscovering the great pioneers of contemporary art.
Artissima 2017 will be held in Torino from 3 to 5 November at the Oval, a glass pavilion built for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in the industrial archaeology complex of the Lingotto. It is curated by Artissima Srl, a company connected with the Fondazione Torino Musei.
Operae – From 3rd to 5th November, Tourin
Operæ will take place from the 3rd to the 5th November 2017 (preview on the 2nd November) and it will find its new venue at Lingotto Fiere, which already hosts Artissima – International Fair of Contemporary Art, becoming a contemporary languages hub in the framework of the most important Italian event dedicated to the contemporary, “Contemporary Art Torino”.
The eighth edition of Operæ gathers the public and the experts around projects focused on materials as well as on processes and craft techniques. The fair suggests a landscape inhabited by objects conveying new values – whether economic, social, productive or relational – that arise from the intersection among craft skills and digital knowledge, local practices and global needs, specialised competences and collective narratives.
8208 Lighting Design Festival- From 3th to 24th November, Como
The Alessandro Volta Foundation for the Promotion of the University, Scientific Research and Higher Education promotes the second edition of the 8208 Lighting Design Festival, together with the City of Como and with the patronage of some important institutions: an event dedicated to contemporary art involving artists, designers, universities and international professionals with special events, workshops and panels that deal with the theme of light and light art.
I-Design – From 9th to 19th November, Palermo
I-Design is a project of cultural and economic development created for the city of Palermo, based on a strategic concept of culture and design as a fundamental tool for urban reconversion, social transformation and economic development for the community.
I-Design aims at enhancing local, national and international industrial design for the creation of new occupations, especially by educating young people about how to make a business, opening to the reflection on the relationship between local situation and globalization.
The event, in particular, tends to the development of Palermo as a city of know-how, starting from the enhancement of the cultural element in design, as an attractive value for the creation of a collective imagery, in a territory that, at a time of contrasts and inconveniences, must look for a new identity.
From north to south, November will host several events that will allow you to have a broad and different vision on design. From contemporary art to independent design, from light design to local and emerging design.
